Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) Training Course
Over the past decade, advancements in Remotely Operated Vehicles and, in particular, the emergence of competition between ROV manufactures have made ROVs accessible to PSD teams. Today’s ROVs come equipped with not only with High Definition Video cameras but with a multitude of sensors and hardware options, the choices are endless! All PSD team ROVs should be fitted with sonar and a manipulator. These two items significantly increase the ROVs effectiveness in SAR operations. ROVs provide PSD teams the ability to conduct an initial assessment of the conditions underwater before diver entry, greatly enhancing diver safety. The training required to effectively use an ROV in PSD operations is critical to team success. Failure to budget comprehensive ROV and sonar training into their purchasing budget will result in at best poor operational results and at the worst loss of the ROV.
This course is designed to provide PSD teams and individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct SAR operations utilizing ROVs equipped with sonar systems.
